About

Welcome to the online version of Audubon Society of Portland’s Urban Natural Resource Directory (UNRD). UNRD is a resource for citizens seeking to protect, restore, and manage watersheds for fish, wildlife, and people in the Portland-Vancouver Metropolitan Region. After publishing four editions of the UNRD between 1990 and 1996, Audubon Society of Portland has put the information online with the release of the fifth edition in 2007. You can download a PDF copy of the 2007 Urban natural resource directory here.

The primary objective of the UNRD is to help citizens solve natural resource problems in their community. The “Who Ya Gonna Call?” section is intended to answer the most frequently asked questions regarding a variety of natural resource issues. The directory section lists local park, natural area, or watershed “friends” groups and other local and regional organizations dedicated to protection and enhancement of our regional ecosystem.

This website also serves as a online hub for the Friends of Advocates of Urban Natural Areas, a group of individuals and organizations dedicated to the protection and restoration of watersheds for fish, wildlife, and people and more fully integrating the built and natural environments in the Portland-Vancouver Metropolitan Region. Audubon Society of Portland maintains a list of FAUNA members who are actively involved in urban natural resource issues in the Portland-Vancouver region. We encourage you to join FAUNA and get involved in the stewardship of our urban ecosystems.
